Embarking on her third public procession in the southern precincts of Delhi, Sunita rallied support for Sahiram Pahalwan, a candidate representing the AAP. She underscored that her husband’s confinement stemmed from his initiatives in fortifying public education, establishing community clinics, and pledging financial aid to women in Delhi.
“The timing of his imprisonment, right before the elections, is a blatant maneuver to suppress his dissenting voice. Autocracy has reached its zenith. Let us safeguard our nation. Exercise your franchise, undeterred by the sweltering conditions,” she urged.
“Your leader, my husband, languishes behind bars, devoid of any judicial declaration of culpability. They contend that investigations are underway. But shall we incarcerate him for a decade if the probe persists for as long? This is nothing short of thuggery and tyranny,” she vehemently asserted.
Kejriwal was apprehended on March 21 in connection to allegations of financial impropriety linked to excise policies. Presently, he remains confined in Tihar Jail under judicial custody.
“Arvind ji epitomizes erudition, integrity, and unwavering patriotism. We share a three-decade-long matrimony. Upon our betrothal, he inquired, ‘My commitment lies in societal welfare. Will this be a concern for you?’ His sole aspiration is to ameliorate the plight of the common citizenry.
“In 2011, he embarked on a hunger strike, despite medical advisories against it due to his diabetic condition, underscoring his dedication even at the risk of his own life,” Sunita recounted.
