Delhi’s Principal Administrator Arvind Kejriwal, who found himself confined for a fortnight following recent developments regarding the defunct liquor protocol, commenced his day within the confines of Tihar Jail by adhering to institutional regulations, as disclosed by insider sources on Tuesday.
On the first day of April, a tribunal in Delhi ordered Kejriwal’s detainment for fifteen days concerning the alcohol policy lawsuit, relocating him to Tihar Jail until April 15. The tribunal allowed him to partake of home-prepared meals and maintain his prescribed diabetes medication.
Insiders reported that the Delhi Principal Administrator, housed within Cell Block 2 of the heavily guarded Tihar Jail, was assigned a solitary chamber equipped with a desk and chair to accommodate three volumes, in compliance with the tribunal’s directive.
“Kejriwal availed himself of his own sleeping berth, distinct from the standard issue provided by the penitentiary. Despite the confined space, he did not voice any grievances,” revealed sources within Tihar Jail on Tuesday.
They additionally observed his arrangement of personal medical devices such as a glycemic sensor and glucose meter, along with isabgol, glucose, and confections on his desk. The tribunal had instructed penitentiary authorities to permit Kejriwal to retain these items for emergencies relating to his blood sugar levels.
On Tuesday, the Delhi Principal Administrator arose early and was served breakfast and tea at 6:40 a.m. “Following an early midday meal, he is to return to his cell by noon and remain there until 3 p.m.,” sources confirmed.
Kejriwal was incarcerated on Monday afternoon following the conclusion of his custody under the Enforcement Directorate. The Directorate implicated the Delhi Principal Administrator as the “mastermind” behind the purported scheme, alleging that the AAP leader had provided “evasive responses” and withheld pertinent information pertinent to the inquiry.
In 2014, the AAP leader was similarly detained in Tihar Jail after refusing to furnish a bail sum of Rs 10,000 in a defamation lawsuit brought against him by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari. Other AAP figures currently detained at Tihar include Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Sanjay Singh. Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha, who is also the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is also housed in Tihar jail.
