Satna (Madhya Pradesh): Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress, asserted on Sunday that if the “Modi-Shah government” returns to power, it could spell the end of democracy in the nation. In a public gathering in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna, Kharge took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, going on to suggest that they might even consider dismantling the Constitution crafted by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
“Should you wish to uphold the Constitution, and safeguard the voting rights of women, laborers, and farmers, then cast your vote for the Congress party and its ‘panja’ (hand) symbol,” urged Kharge to the assembled crowd. He continued, “Democracy stands at risk should the Modi-Shah government be reelected,” as he rallied support for Congress candidate Siddharth Kushwaha in Satna.
Kharge also criticized PM Modi and Minister Shah for welcoming individuals into the BJP who were deemed “corrupt” during their tenure in other parties. Kharge quipped, “It appears that Shah operates a significant laundry service, complete with a ‘washing machine’ to cleanse those with a history of corruption before enlisting them into the BJP,” as he addressed the audience. The Lok Sabha election in Satna is scheduled for April 26.
