Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba of Ukraine is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Thursday for a two-day visit at the request of the External Affairs Minister. During his inaugural trip, Kuleba intends to solicit New Delhi’s assistance in rebuilding the war-torn nation.
In a pre-visit virtual media briefing held on Wednesday evening, Kuleba stated, “I have accepted the invitation from S. Jaishankar to visit India, and I eagerly anticipate our discussions.”
“I plan to engage in open and thorough dialogues while in Delhi. My visit underscores our commitment to exploring opportunities with India,” he emphasized.
He underscored the importance of India’s collaboration with Ukraine, particularly in economic initiatives and reconstruction endeavors. “We consider India to be a significant global force,” he remarked.
His visit comes shortly after Ukraine’s President and Russian President engaged in a telephone discussion with Prime Minister Modi. Zelenskyy and Putin have extended invitations to Prime Minister Modi to visit their respective countries following the Lok Sabha elections.
During his stay, Foreign Minister Kuleba is slated to participate in various activities, including official meetings with External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar and Deputy NSA, focusing on bilateral cooperation and collaboration on regional and global issues of shared interest. Additionally, he is expected to engage with the business community.
The primary focus of his visit is likely to center around the forthcoming peace summit in Switzerland, with Kyiv expressing a strong desire for India’s participation.
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has endured for two years, commencing on February 24th, 2022.
