In Kota, a 21-year-old female scholar, hailing from Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh, ventured to Kota to undertake her preparatory studies in a coaching institute. Allegedly, she fell victim to a kidnapping incident while in the town of Rajasthan.
However, law enforcement authorities are skeptical regarding the narrative of abduction, suggesting the possibility of a staged scenario. The student’s father received distressing mobile images and videos depicting her in a bound state. These visuals, transmitted to him on Monday evening, also included menacing messages demanding a ransom of ₹30 lakh. Consequently, he promptly lodged a complaint with the Shivpuri Police.
Police investigations revealed that the student neither attended classes nor resided in any hostel within Kota. Nonetheless, her father presented a contrasting narrative, asserting her presence in Kota for coaching since August of the preceding year.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has intervened in the matter, engaging with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to seek resolution. Amrita Duhan, the Superintendent of Police in Kota, disclosed, “The student regularly corresponded with her father via text, furnishing updates on her academic pursuits in Kota, including her participation in coaching sessions. Strangely, these messages emanated from a different mobile number than previously used.”
The undisclosed sender shared photographs portraying the student with bound hands, feet, and mouth.
Duhan elaborated that the police are diligently piecing together information to ascertain the veracity of events. A reward of Rs 20,000 has been pledged to anyone providing actionable intelligence on the woman’s whereabouts.
Speaking to the media in Kota, the girl’s father revealed that his daughter had previously encountered harassment from a male acquaintance in Indore. Consequently, the family took precautionary measures, closely monitoring her activities at their Shivpuri residence for six months before eventually dispatching her to Kota for educational purposes. According to her father, she communicated her enrollment in a coaching institute in Kota and her diligent preparation for upcoming examinations.
Following the revelation of the incident, the student’s family hastened to Kota, where they engaged with Ravi Dutt Gaur, the Inspector General of Kota Range, and Brijmohan Bairwa, the Assistant District Magistrate of Kota City.
