New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi implored the electorate on Saturday to participate robustly in the democratic process, thereby invigorating its essence. The Prime Minister is presently in his third day of contemplative retreat at the venerable Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari.
“Today heralds the concluding chapter of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. As 57 constituencies across eight states and Union Territories head to the polling booths, I earnestly call upon the electorate to come forth in substantial numbers and cast their vote. I fervently hope that our youth and female citizens partake in record-breaking figures. Collectively, let us render our democracy more dynamic and inclusive,” PM Modi communicated through his social media platform on X.
Modi stands among 904 aspirants vying in the decisive and seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
This phase encompasses 57 constituencies spanning seven states – Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab – and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Additionally, voting is concurrently transpiring in 42 legislative assembly segments in Odisha.
This phase signifies the culmination of the electoral process to elect the 18th Lok Sabha, which will be comprised of 543 representatives elected from the expanse of the nation.
The inaugural phase of voting commenced on April 19, extending incrementally over the subsequent six weeks.
Polling has been finalized in 28 states and Union Territories, encompassing 486 constituencies.
The votes cast in the Lok Sabha elections are slated for counting on June 4.
As per the Election Commission, upwards of 10.06 crore citizens, including nearly 5.24 crore men, 4.82 crore women, and 3574 third-gender electors, are entitled to vote in Saturday’s election.
In the meantime, Modi embarked on his meditation sojourn on the evening of May 30 in Tamil Nadu, with the conclusion anticipated on the evening of June 1, coinciding with the close of the polling process.
