In New Delhi, a recent proclamation by oil marketing corporations has heralded a reduction in the tariffs of commercial LPG gas cylinders, providing much-needed respite to enterprises and businesses. Commencing today, the price for a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been diminished by Rs 69.50 in the capital, setting the new retail price at Rs 1676.
This decrement follows closely on the heels of a previous adjustment on May 1, 2024, when the cost of the same cylinder was decreased by Rs 19. These successive reductions portend a favorable trajectory for businesses wrestling with operational expenditures amid economic vicissitudes.
As a new month dawns, LPG cylinder prices are subject to revision. The government has been propelling various initiatives to foster the utilization of LPG cylinders for domestic cooking, such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which extends subsidies to qualifying households.
A month prior, on May 1, oil marketing entities reduced the prices of commercial LPG gas cylinders by Rs 19 per unit, effective immediately. The retail cost of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder was then Rs 1745.50 in Delhi, according to sources.
The Opposition, spearheaded by the Congress, has frequently criticized the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre for its inability to curb fuel prices and the subsequent impact on the prices of essential food items and other commodities. Although the specific catalysts for the price decrease remain undisclosed, it is plausible that various elements such as fluctuations in international oil prices, modifications in taxation policies, and supply-demand dynamics play a role in such adjustments.
Revisions for both commercial and domestic LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders customarily transpire on the inaugural day of each month.
