In a recent development in New Delhi, the local law enforcement authorities strongly disapproved of the incident that unfolded in Inderlok. A video circulating on various platforms depicted a police officer engaging in physical force against individuals engaged in the act of Namaz on a public thoroughfare.
A formal statement was issued on Friday, expressing remorse for the alleged occurrence and urging the community to uphold unity. Via a post in Hindi on the social media platform X, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for North East Delhi conveyed, “The residents of the North-East district have consistently stood by the police in ensuring law and order. We denounce the incident at Inderlok. Stringent directives have been issued to all police personnel in response to this event.”
Emphasizing the need for communal harmony and advising against succumbing to unfounded rumors, the DCP added, “It is imperative for the populace to maintain peace and not be swayed by hearsay.” Addressing the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for North, Manoj Kumar Meena, declared on Friday that decisive measures had been taken against the implicated officer, with the police post-in-charge also facing suspension in the aftermath of the alleged altercation.
“Appropriate actions have been initiated against the police officer featured in the viral video. The supervisor of the police post has likewise been suspended. Stringent disciplinary measures are being implemented. The prevailing situation in the locality remains under control,” stated the DCP, North, following the widespread dissemination of the video.
Earlier this week, a video clip gained traction, purportedly capturing a police officer dispersing individuals engaged in prayer on a road, deploying physical force. The viral footage also depicted the officer embroiled in a physical altercation with local residents.
