Manipur Militia: Army Unveils Arms Cache

In the vicinity of Khujoi Rok Nala near Sadu Kabui village in Bishnupur district of Manipur, a significant cache of illicit weaponry, ammunition, and related military supplies was discovered by the military.

Among the items seized were a 9mm Carbine Machine Gun, a Sten Gun Mk-2, a .303 Rifle, a 9mm pistol, an Anti-riot gun, 14 Grenades, along with assorted ammunition and military equipment, as per a statement released by the PRO & spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence. Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of suspicious individuals and the movement of unauthorized arms and ammunition, a collaborative search operation was conducted by the military, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Manipur Police, which commenced on Thursday.

In a separate incident last month, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) formally charged seven individuals in connection with the looting of weapons and ammunition from the Bishnupur police armory during the ethnic turmoil in Manipur. The agency presented its charges before the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Assam. On August 3 of the preceding year, a violent mob pillaged more than 300 firearms, 19,800 rounds of ammunition, and various accessories from two quarters of the 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion headquarters at Naranseina in Bishnupur.
