In the heart of New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Jain sage Acharya Vidhyasagar Ji Maharaj.

In a solemn reflection, PM Modi articulated, “My contemplations and supplications accompany the myriad devotees of Acharya Shri 108 Vidhyasagar Ji Maharaj Ji. His indelible impact on society, particularly his endeavors in fostering spiritual enlightenment, combating poverty, advancing healthcare and education, will resonate across future generations.”

Further underscoring his connection, the Prime Minister’s statement continued, “I had the privilege of receiving his benedictions over the years. The memory of my visit to the Chandragiri Jain Mandir in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh, late last year remains etched in my mind. During that period, I shared moments with Acharya Shri 108 Vidhyasagar Ji Maharaj Ji, receiving his divine blessings.”

The president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, JP Nadda, expressed profound dismay in a Hindi post on X, stating, “I am profoundly shocked by the news of the passing of the venerable Saint Shiromani Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj.”

Nadda continued, “He has expanded the dimensions of Jainism’s invaluable spiritual legacy. His teachings, laden with erudition, compassion, and benevolence, shall forever serve as a compass guiding societal and cultural progress. I bow reverently at the feet of the departed Acharya Shri in deep homage.”
