In Chandigarh, Balkaur Singh, the progenitor of the deceased Punjabi vocalist Sidhu Moosewala, has lodged an accusation against the Punjab administration, citing harassment regarding the birth of his subsequent male offspring.
Singh, alongside his spouse Charan Kaur, recently welcomed a newborn son on March 17, nearly a biennium post the fatal shooting of Sidhu Moosewala in the district of Mansa. The couple opted for the utilization of In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) as their reproductive technique.
Through an Instagram post on Tuesday, Singh levied allegations of governmental harassment, pressing him to authenticate the legitimacy of his newborn progeny.
“Merely two sunrises ago, by the divine benevolence of ‘Waheguru’ and the collective prayers, we have been blessed with the resurgence of our Shubhdeep (Sidhu Moosewala),” articulated Singh in the footage. “However, the bureaucratic echelons have embarked upon a campaign of vexation, soliciting evidentiary documentation of the infant. They are posing manifold interrogatives, coercing me to substantiate the legality of this progeny.”
In his plea to the administration, particularly addressing CM ‘saab’ (Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann), Singh implored, “Let the course of medical intervention transpire uninterrupted. I am a native denizen of this locale and stand poised to heed your summons.”
“In the throes of affliction, I am impelled to articulate emphatically that you exhibit a proclivity for ambivalence. Your counsel is evidently imbued with such counsel… I am not of the ilk to retreat from my convictions,” declared Singh, asserting his fidelity to the statutes.
“Throughout his 28 years of existence, my scion has adhered steadfastly to the legal canons. Hailing from a lineage of military pedigree, I, too, hold the legal precepts in high esteem. I solemnly pledge my unwavering cooperation in any judicial scrutiny. Should you harbor suspicions regarding my conduct, I extend an invitation to arrest me forthwith. Should your apprehensions persist, lodge an FIR against my person, incarcerate me. Conduct your due diligence and investigations. I vouch to present all requisite legal documentation, exculpating my position,” proclaimed Singh in his video communiqué.
Simultaneously, reports have surfaced indicating that the Union Health Ministry dispatched a missive to the Punjab administration on March 14, soliciting a dossier concerning the IVF treatment administered to Charan Kaur, referencing media disclosures.
As per insider sources, the correspondence underscored that pursuant to section 21 (g) (i) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, the age threshold stipulated for female recipients of ART services falls within the ambit of 21-50 years.
While the patriarch of the Moosewala clan approximates an age of sixty, his consort Charan Kaur stands at 58 years. Concurrently, leaders of the opposition lambasted the AAP-led administration for the allegations levelled by Moosewala’s progenitor.
Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, the Punjab Congress chief, articulated in a communication on X, “Bhagwant Mann ji, you are seemingly an outlier amongst Punjabis for failing to extend felicitations to @iBalkaurSidhu ji on the nativity of his male offspring, and now, your administration subjects him to legal impediments. We implore you to desist from persecuting the Sidhu household, affording them a modicum of respite.”
Likewise, RP Singh, spokesperson for the BJP, penned, ‘We express profound consternation at the assertions proffered by Sidhu Musewala’s progenitor, wherein he accuses Bhagwant Mann’s administration of compelling him to furnish documents pertaining to the legitimacy of the neonate. CM Maan Sahib, to what depths will you descend?’
Bikram Singh Majithia, leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, lamented the ordeal thrust upon Balkaur Singh for his infant progeny. He castigated the state apparatus for harassing the Moosewala family.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, commonly referred to as Sidhu Moosewala, met his demise in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022. The vocalist had previously contested, albeit unsuccessfully, the Punjab Legislative Assembly elections in 2022 under the Congress banner from the constituency of Mansa.
