In the aftermath of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s impending visits to Mumbai, law enforcement has implemented a prohibition on the utilization of drones, paragliders, balloons, kites, and remote-controlled microlight aircraft within the city, as relayed by an official on Wednesday.
PM Modi is slated to conduct a promotional procession in Ghatkopar, located in eastern Mumbai, on Wednesday, followed by a public assembly in the city on Friday. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) has promulgated restrictive mandates under section 144 of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) from 00.01 hrs until 24.00 hrs on May 15 (Wednesday) and May 17 (Friday), as detailed by the official.
Per the mandates, there exists apprehension that during PM Modi’s Mumbai visits, individuals with terrorist or anti-social inclinations may instigate attacks utilizing drones, paragliders, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, thereby posing a potential threat to peace and public tranquility. The orders underscore the significant risk to human well-being, health, and public property.
A substantial cohort of dignitaries and functionaries is anticipated to participate in the PM’s engagements on Wednesday and Friday. In recognition of the imperative to implement preventive measures against terrorists and anti-social elements, the mandates were issued to prohibit the aerial operation of drones, paragliders, assorted balloons, kites, and remote-controlled microlight aircraft, as stated by the official.
Under the jurisdiction of Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg, Parksite, Ghatkopar, Pant Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Chembur, Chunabhatti, BKC, Kherwadi, Vakola, Vile Parle, Sahar, Airport, Bandra, Worli, Mahim, Dadar, and Shivaji Park police stations in Mumbai, these restrictions shall be enforced. Failure to comply with the orders will result in punitive action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (disobedience of a lawful order issued by a public servant), he concluded.
