In the aftermath of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections’ revelation by the Election Commission of India (ECI), a rendezvous between the principal figures of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the INDIA bloc is scheduled for Wednesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged triumphant with 240 seats, securing its position as the foremost political entity. To solidify its standing, the saffron party seeks the backing of its allies, comprising the TDP, Janata Dal (United), Janata Dal (Secular), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and Shiv Sena.
Reports affirm the presence of Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and his daughter Supriya Sule, an elected representative from the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, in the Indian capital for the INDIA bloc assembly.
Notably, Nitish Kumar, the leader of Janata Dal (United) and the Chief Minister of Bihar, has assumed a pivotal role as a ‘King Maker.’ His arrival in Delhi, alongside his arch-rival Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), underscores the gravity of the unfolding political dynamics.
Expressing optimism upon his arrival, Kumar asserted, “The formation of the government is imminent.” JD (U), having clinched 12 parliamentary seats in Bihar, stands poised to exert influence. Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD, a key ally of the INDIA bloc, has secured four seats.
Earlier engagements between Kumar and top BJP brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hint at strategic alignments within the NDA fold. Furthermore, other NDA constituents in Bihar, namely Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), have each secured a substantial mandate.
Ahead of their rendezvous in Delhi, Paswan conferred with the Bihar Chief Minister, acknowledging Kumar’s instrumental role in consolidating the NDA’s foothold in the state. Paswan’s laudatory remarks underscore the collaborative efforts of Modi and Kumar in bolstering the NDA’s prospects in Bihar.
Amidst this political maneuvering, Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, is en route to the national capital to partake in the NDA deliberations, anticipated to convene at the Prime Minister’s residence on 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.
In a decisive affirmation of allegiance, Naidu reiterated his party’s steadfast commitment to the NDA cause.
Akhilesh Yadav, the luminary of Samajwadi Party, whose electoral triumph in Uttar Pradesh yielded 37 seats, is slated to journey to Delhi. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena, represented by Sanjay Raut and Anil Desai, is expected to represent its interests at the INDIA meeting, with Uddhav Thackeray abstaining.
Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and a prominent Shiv Sena figure within the NDA, is set to participate in the conclave, further underscoring the coalition’s collaborative ethos.
