Names of Aurangabad-Osmanabad might be modified in Maharashtra, petition difficult the federal government order rejected in SC

New Delhi: The Supreme Courtroom on Friday dismissed a petition difficult the Bombay Excessive Courtroom order dismissing the petition towards renaming of Aurangabad and Osmanabad cities in Maharashtra. A bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti upheld the Bombay Excessive Courtroom order dismissing the petitioners’ demand difficult the renaming of the 2 cities.

The petitioner had challenged the validity of notifications issued by the Maharashtra authorities renaming Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad as Dharashiv. The Supreme Courtroom mentioned that in such circumstances there might be variations amongst completely different folks and a few folks will agree with the change within the names of the cities whereas some will disagree. The courtroom upheld the choice of the Bombay Excessive Courtroom and mentioned, ‘It is a rational order.’
