In a significant political move, the opening of the gates of Jagannath Temple stands as a fulfilled promise by the BJP, echoing its commitment made during the recent state assembly elections.

The newly appointed Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, made his visit to the temple a moment of fulfillment, announcing the unlocking of all four gates to devotees during his inaugural Cabinet meeting.

Following the unanimous decision of the Odisha Cabinet, Chief Minister Majhi personally inaugurated the opening of all gates at the Jagannath Temple in Puri, marking a pivotal moment for devotees who had been restricted to a single entrance during the past four years.

Addressing the gathered crowd, Chief Minister Majhi reiterated the BJP’s commitment to fulfilling its electoral promises, emphasizing the importance of accessibility for devotees and the preservation of the temple.

Furthermore, recognizing the need for conservation efforts, the Cabinet has established a corpus fund of ₹500 crore to address the shrine’s upkeep and related matters.

In addition to the temple announcement, Chief Minister Majhi outlined plans to enhance support for farmers, including raising the minimum support price for paddy and implementing a comprehensive policy, “Samruddha Krushak Niti Yojana,” within the government’s first 100 days.

Asserting a new direction for governance, Chief Minister Majhi unveiled plans for women’s empowerment through the Subhadra Yojana, providing ₹50,000 cash vouchers to women, signaling a departure from previous initiatives deemed ineffective.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Prabhati Parida, Chief Minister Majhi’s visit to the Jagannath temple underscored the government’s commitment to its promises, with representatives from various levels of governance in attendance, symbolizing unity and dedication to Odisha’s cultural heritage and development initiatives.
