In New Delhi, the National Commission for Women made an urgent plea to the Election Commission of India concerning the remarks made by Congress leader Supriya Shrinate and party colleague HS Ahir regarding actress Kangana Ranaut. Ranaut, standing as the BJP candidate for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat, faced disparaging comments from Shrinate, whose Instagram post containing objectionable content about Ranaut was promptly removed from her account.
Ahir, serving as the state joint coordinator of Kisan Congress, also engaged in derogatory remarks against Ranaut. The NCW, led by chairperson Rekha Sharma, dispatched a letter to the Election Commission, urging action against Shrinate and Ahir.
Expressing dismay over the behavior of Ms. Supriya Shrinate and Mr. H.S. Ahir, the National Commission for Women condemned their lewd and derogatory comments directed at @KanganaTeam on social media. Such conduct is unacceptable and undermines the dignity of women. @sharmarekha, in a communication to the Election Commissioner of India, demanded prompt and stringent measures against them. Let’s foster respect and dignity towards all women. Respect Women,” the NCW emphasized in its communication.
Ranaut retaliated against Shrinate’s remarks, asserting that she has portrayed diverse roles throughout her two-decade-long career as an artist. “Dear Supriya ji, over the past two decades, I have portrayed a myriad of characters. From portraying a naive girl in Queen to embodying a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from depicting a goddess in Manikarnika to embodying a demon in Chandramukhi, from playing a prostitute in Rajjo to portraying a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii,” Ranaut conveyed via Twitter.
Shrinate clarified that several individuals have access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts, and one of them posted an extremely inappropriate comment today. “As soon as I became aware of it, I promptly removed the post. Those who are acquainted with me are well aware that I would never make personal or indecent remarks towards any woman. I am keen to ascertain how this occurred,” she elucidated.
