Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, made groundbreaking statements in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (December 20), expressing his pride in the overhaul of these three laws after 150 years. The Home Minister deliberated on the Indian Justice (Second) Act 2023, Indian Citizen Security (Second) Act 2023, and Indian Evidence (Second) Bill 2023 during the session.

Congress under Satirical Scrutiny

Taking a dig at the Congress, he remarked, “For the first time, laws are being formulated under the spirit of our constitution, now led by PM Narendra Modi. Some said we don’t understand these laws; I tell them that if you keep an Indian heart, you’ll comprehend, but if it’s aligned with Italy, understanding will never dawn.”

Justice Takes Center Stage in the New Legislation

Shah emphasized, “These three bills that amend archaic laws have a human-centric perspective, bringing a transformation in the criminal justice system rather than focusing on punishment. Even after 75 years of independence, we continue to use English terms like ‘majesty,’ ‘British Kingdom,’ ‘The Crown,’ ‘Barrister,’ and ‘Ruler.'”

Fulfilling Promises – The Home Minister Asserts

Furthermore, Shah highlighted several features of the bills, stating, “These three bills exhibit the essence of the constitution, but those with an Italian mindset will never comprehend it.” Assertively, he proclaimed that all three laws are based on justice, transparency, and impartiality. He stated, “We have fulfilled our promises. We’ve revoked Article 370, removed AFSPA from 70% of areas in Northeastern states, imposed a ban on triple talaq, and granted 33% reservation for women in Parliament.”

This reconstruction of India’s legal framework under Amit Shah’s guidance is poised to bring about substantial changes in the country’s jurisprudence, aligning it with contemporary societal needs and aspirations.
