In a recent conclave of high-level military discussions held earlier this week, the nations of India and China concurred on the imperative need to uphold “serenity and composure” on terra firma within the border precincts along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) situated in eastern Ladakh.
Regrettably, the deliberations that transpired on Monday exhibited a conspicuous absence of unequivocal progress in resolving the protracted and intricate dispute persisting for over three and a half years, which engulfs a myriad of contentious points, as elucidated by individuals privy to the matter.
The 21st iteration of the rendezvous between the India-China corps commanders transpired at the Chushul-Moldo border assembly point on the 19th day of February, as communicated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The MEA articulated, “The discussions were an extension of antecedent dialogues, aiming for the comprehensive disentanglement of the residual sectors along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh, posited as an indispensable foundation for the reinstatement of harmony and serenity in the border regions shared by India and China.”
During the friendly and genial discourse, both sides expounded their viewpoints on the matter. “The two parties have concurred to perpetuate communication concerning the trajectory forward through the pertinent military and diplomatic mechanisms,” proclaimed the MEA. It appended, “They have also vowed to sustain tranquility and composure on the terrain within the border precincts during the interim period.”
