In the labyrinth of political maneuvers, the Congress, with its unwavering gaze fixed upon the forthcoming CEC gathering on March 11, divulged that the allocation of seats for five states and one Union Territory has reached its culmination.
The articulate Congress general secretary, KC Venugopal, articulated the finalization of seats in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Delhi, along with the picturesque Lakshadweep. Venugopal, an active participant in the inaugural central election committee addressing parliamentary candidates, revealed, “We navigated through the intricacies of the first CEC meet, systematically concluding the seat allocations for Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and the serene Lakshadweep. The procedural tapestry is in progress, and a formal proclamation is poised to grace the public imminently.”
Meanwhile, the second rendezvous of the party’s Election Committee, slated for March 11 in the bustling city of Delhi, is set to immerse itself in an exhaustive discourse regarding the cherry-picking of candidates for the impending Lok Sabha polls. Last Thursday witnessed a cerebral collaboration between the Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, and the sagacious Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge, brainstorming within the party’s citadel for a Central Election Committee conclave aimed at meticulously scrutinizing potential candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The seat finalization exercise, as per sources, reached its denouement close to the stroke of midnight.
When quizzed about his potential participation in the Lok Sabha elections, the erstwhile Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, diplomatically deferred to the party spokesperson, stating, “The spokesperson shall articulate on that matter.” Sachin Pilot, a prominent Congress leader, succinctly commented, “An intellectually stimulating discourse transpired. Deliberation enveloped all constituencies. As soon as the venerable CEC arrives at a consensus, the discerning public shall be apprised. Whatever verdict transpires, the venerable AICC shall convey.”
Post the deliberations, Deepak Babaria, a notable Congress figure, reflected on the discourse, affirming that the CEC opined in favor of a comprehensive discussion scheduled for March 11. Jairam Ramesh, the General Secretary (Communications) for the Congress, weighed in on the CEC meetings, asserting, “The august CEC shall meticulously dissect all constituencies. Conclusive determinations shall be reached wherever conceivable. The CEC stands as the apical entity, orchestrating the meticulous deliberation and finalization of candidates.” Addressing the issue of seat allocation, Ramesh Chennithala, another Congress luminary, tantalizingly hinted, “Anticipate propitious tidings by the morrow.” At the helm of the committee stands Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, flanked by stalwarts like former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
