In Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (UBT) unveiled its inaugural roster comprising 16 contenders for the imminent Lok Sabha elections. Among them, former Union ministers Anant Geete and Arvind Sawant have been nominated for the Raigad and South Mumbai constituencies, respectively.

The party has also put forth Rajan Vichare for Thane, Amol Kirtikar for Mumbai North-West, and Sanjay Patil for Mumbai North-East. Uddhav Thackeray helms the party, which aligns with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) within the state.

Meanwhile, another MVA constituent, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), has yet to formalize its candidates for the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, slated for April-May. Conversely, the Congress, also a member of the state-level coalition of opposition factions, has announced its nominees for certain constituencies where no conflict arises with its alliance cohorts.

Maharashtra, boasting 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second-most after Uttar Pradesh’s 80, will conduct polling across five phases commencing on April 19.
