Amidst the announcement of the General Elections 2024 and the initiation of the Model Code of Conduct, the Suvidha platform has garnered a remarkable influx of over 73,000 solicitation petitions from political factions and aspirants, as per governmental statistics.
Out of this multitude of entreaties, in excess of 44,600 (constituting 60%) have gained endorsement, while approximately 11,200 submissions have faced refusal, and roughly 10,819 applications have been nullified due to their invalidity or replication. Predominantly, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh have emerged as the principal receivers of these appeals, juxtaposed with Chandigarh, Lakshadweep, and Manipur, which have witnessed minimal solicitation volumes.
It is noteworthy that the Suvidha portal has been meticulously devised by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to safeguard an equitable platform that espouses the democratic tenets of unimpeded, equitable, and unambiguous elections. This portal expedites the process of requisitioning and acting upon requests for authorizations and amenities from political entities and contenders during the electoral phase.
The platform accommodates a myriad of authorization requests with utmost transparency, adhering to the principle of prioritizing the earliest submissions, encompassing permissions for orchestrating rallies, establishing provisional party headquarters, conducting door-to-door canvassing, deploying video vans and helicopters, procuring vehicle licenses, and disseminating pamphlets. Political entities and aspirants can effortlessly lodge permission petitions online from any location, at any juncture, via the Suvidha Portal.
It is bolstered by a robust information technology infrastructure, overseen by pivotal officers across diverse state agencies, which facilitates the expeditious processing of authorization entreaties. Additionally, Suvidha is equipped with a companion application that empowers petitioners to monitor the real-time status of their requests, thereby augmenting convenience and transparency throughout the process.
The Suvidha Platform not only enhances the efficacy of the electoral machinery but also ensures transparency by furnishing real-time monitoring of applications, status updates, time-stamped submissions, and communication via SMS. The repository of authorization data accessible on the portal serves as an invaluable reservoir for scrutinizing electoral expenditures, thereby fostering heightened accountability and probity in the electoral framework.
Through the Suvidha Platform, the Election Commission of India underscores its steadfast dedication to fostering an equitable, efficient, and transparent electoral milieu, wherein all political entities and aspirants are accorded equitable access to indispensable authorizations and clearances.
