In a recent development, Agnimitra Paul, a prominent figure in the BJP, made a derogatory remark against TMC candidate Abhishek Banerjee, dubbing him as a ‘Pappu’. Paul, following her participation in the voting process at a polling station within the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency, vocalized her stance, stating, “In our midst, there exists a national figure referred to as ‘Pappu’, alongside a local counterpart, Abhishek Banerjee, who I also classify as a ‘Pappu’.”
In response to Banerjee’s purported remarks about her disbarment from entering Asansol and her anticipated defeat in Medinipur, Paul issued a stern challenge. She boldly declared, “I extend a challenge to Abhishek Banerjee to await the outcome on June 4th and witness who endeavors to impede my arrival in Asansol.”
When prompted regarding the assertions made by Abhishek Banerjee and Mamata Banerjee concerning the implementation status of the CAA and NRC, Paul offered her perspective. She remarked, “Mamata Banerjee is cognizant of her inability to obstruct the enforcement of legislation passed by the Government of India. Her endeavor to negate the enactment of the CAA or NRC, and subsequently befuddle the populace, is a futile pursuit.”
“We have refrained from any discourse on the NRC, thus invalidating any relevance of the subject matter. Mamata Banerjee’s attempts to sow seeds of uncertainty among our Muslim brethren are unfounded. The CAA shall undoubtedly come to fruition, and I challenge Mamata Banerjee to intercede if she dares,” Paul asserted.
Expressing optimism about the electoral outcome, Paul opined, “I foresee a decisive victory. Our esteemed candidate SS Ahluwalia is poised for triumph. The unwavering support extended towards our honorable Prime Minister, coupled with his noteworthy accomplishments over the past decade and his visionary plans for the future, encapsulate the profound admiration, faith, and confidence that the citizens of Bharat harbor for him,” Paul conveyed to the press. The electoral battleground witnesses a clash between TMC’s Shatrughan Sinha and BJP’s SS Ahluwalia.
