Earlier today, the Union Cabinet convened for its final session, recommending the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha. The General Elections for the 18th Lok Sabha took place from mid-March to the first week of June, with the vote count concluded on Tuesday, June 5th.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest party, securing 340 seats. However, to establish a government, the BJP requires the support of its coalition partners, including the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janata Dal (United), Shiv Sena, Lok Janshaki Party (Ram Vilas), and the Nationalist Congress Party led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Following this historic victory, Prime Minister Modi, in an address to BJP workers, expressed confidence in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) forming the government for the third consecutive term. He extended his gratitude to BJP workers and took a dig at the opposition, particularly the INDIA bloc led by the Congress party.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the NDA is slated to take place following the Prime Minister’s resignation on Wednesday.
