Bengaluru: Esteemed Kannada cinema producer Soundarya Jagadish, renowned for his contributions to films such as “Appu Pappu” and “Snehitaru,” departed from this world in the early hours of Sunday, April 14. Initial reports hinted at the possibility of self-inflicted demise.
The event took place at his dwelling in Mahalakshmi Layout, Bangalore, sending ripples of shock throughout the cinematic community and leaving his followers in stunned disbelief.
However, his kin refuted the self-harm speculations, asserting to a media outlet that he succumbed to a cardiac event. Soundarya was last seen alongside family at Priyanka Upendra’s Holi festivities, accompanied by his newly-married daughter, Soundarya.
Beyond managing Bangalore’s reputable Jetlag Pub, Jagadish had a notable tenure as a developer, entrepreneur, and film producer. His close connections included prominent personalities such as Rockline Venkatesh and “Challenging Star” Darshan.
Rumors suggest Jagadish faced recent financial adversities; his abode was allegedly repossessed by the bank. Nonetheless, the precise rationale for his ultimate decision remains enigmatic.
Jagadish was deeply involved in film distribution and facilitated his son Nekish’s entry into Sandalwood. He was notably present at recent industry gatherings, including Priyanka Upendra’s Holi event.
His confidant, Shreyas, alluded to his suspected attempt at ending his life at home. “He was declared deceased upon arrival at the hospital around 9 AM on Sunday. The circumstances surrounding his passing remain unclear. Authorities at the Mahalakshmi Layout Police Station have been notified, and a post-mortem examination is pending at MS Ramaiah Hospital,” Shreyas noted.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, North Division, Saidulu Adavath, promptly arrived at the producer’s residence upon learning of his death. “We were alerted to his passing at 9:45 AM today. His spouse filed a complaint, dismissing the notion of a cardiac event and alleging a case of self-harm. Our preliminary investigation suggests Jagadish was experiencing emotional turmoil, particularly following his mother-in-law’s death. We await the post-mortem findings. An inquiry is in progress,” Adavath stated.
