In Coimbatore, Congress luminary Rahul Gandhi took a respite from his bustling campaigning ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, indulging in the cherished South Indian delicacy “Mysore Pak” at a renowned eatery in Singanallur, Tamil Nadu. He later procured a box of the sweets for the state’s chief minister, MK Stalin.
The DMK head honcho appeared both surprised and elated when Gandhi, present in Coimbatore to participate in a joint rally with Stalin, presented him with the traditional treat.
Sharing a video on Instagram, Gandhi documented his purchase of the beloved sweet. “Bringing a hint of sweetness to the Tamil Nadu campaign trail, picked up some Mysore Pak for my esteemed associate Thiru Stalin,” Gandhi penned.
By referring to Stalin as his “brother,” Gandhi emphasized their amicable bond and camaraderie. “Infusing the campaign journey in Tamil Nadu with a touch of sweetness – acquired some Mysore Pak for my comrade Thiru Stalin,” Gandhi captioned the clip.
Gandhi did not shy away from harsh criticism of his adversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “You come here and declare your fondness for dosa, but then retreat to Delhi promoting ‘one nation, one leader, one language.’ Why one language? Why not preserve space for Tamil, Bengali, Kannada, or Manipuri? Modiji, your affinity for dosa or vada isn’t the focal point here. What matters is your regard for the Tamil language, your appreciation for Tamil history, and your contributions to the future of this region and the nation at large,” stated Gandhi.
Intensifying his assault on the center regarding electoral bonds, Gandhi asserted that the electoral bond scheme is the world’s most significant scam. “Here’s the process: First, Mr. Modi announces his intention to cleanse politics. Then he introduces the ‘Electoral Bond’ scheme, where donors remain undisclosed. After some time, the Supreme Court deems the scheme ‘illegal’ and requests the disclosure of donor identities. Billions of rupees flowed directly to the BJP. As we scrutinized the donors and the timelines of their contributions, patterns emerged. Companies undergoing CBI/ED/tax investigations would donate money to the BJP a few days later. Shortly after, their cases would be dismissed. In numerous instances, contracts were granted to businesses, and within weeks, these businesses made donations to the BJP. This is the mechanics of the BJP’s laundering operation.”
In recognition of Gandhi’s act of courtesy, Stalin proclaimed on Saturday that the INDI bloc would secure a “sweet victory” on June 4.
