The Rajasthan Assembly Election in 2023 has generated significant attention, as elections have been announced in five states across India. During this time, there have been calls to nominate senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Sindhiya as the chief ministerial candidate for the state of Rajasthan. However, amid these discussions, Vasundhara Raje has hinted at retirement from politics.
In a campaign event in Jhalawar, her son, Dushyant Singh, addressed the audience, leading to Vasundhara Raje becoming visibly emotional. During her speech, she made significant remarks, stating, “After hearing my son’s words, I feel it’s time for me to retire. You have all trained him so well that I don’t need to push him forward. All the legislators are here, and I believe there is no need for me to keep an eye on them because they will work for the people on their merit.”
Vasundhara Raje’s son, Dushyant Singh, is a five-time Member of Parliament from the Jhalawar-Baran Lok Sabha constituency. There has been consistent demand for Vasundhara Raje to be declared as the face of the chief minister for Rajasthan, although the BJP has not made such an announcement, leading to questions about her role.
In the same meeting, Vasundhara Raje further stated, “Now, I can take retirement” after presenting an account of the work done in the region over the past three decades. She also called for a change in power in the state, claiming that corruption had taken place and question papers were leaked during the Congress government’s rule. She emphasized that if Rajasthan is to become the number one state in the country again, the BJP needs to come to power.
It’s worth mentioning that voting in Rajasthan is scheduled for November 25, and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. Vasundhara Raje’s statements and the ongoing political dynamics in Rajasthan indicate a shifting landscape in the state’s politics as the elections approach.
