In a vibrant display of political fervor, Union Home Minister Amit Shah led an exuberant road procession through the streets of Sikar Lok Sabha constituency on Sunday, vigorously endorsing the BJP candidate vying for the parliamentary seat. Accompanied by the esteemed Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and the seasoned party nominee, two-time MP Swami Sumedhanand, Shah orchestrated a spectacle that captivated the attention of the masses.
Arriving in Jaipur, Shah convened a strategic gathering with party stalwarts representing five pivotal Lok Sabha constituencies, namely Dausa, Karauli-Dholpur, Nagaur, Churu, and Jhunjhunu, before embarking on his journey to Sikar for the grand roadshow.
In a scene brimming with enthusiasm, Shah, alongside CM Sharma and Sumedhanand, traversed the thoroughfares in an open vehicle, commencing their procession from the revered Shree Kalyan temple. Their route meandered through the bustling locales of New Dujod Gate, Ghantaghar, and Jat Bazaar, culminating at Tapriya Bagichi, enveloping a sprawling distance of approximately two kilometers over the course of an eventful hour.
The populace, energized by the fervor of the occasion, adorned the pathway with a cascade of flowers, punctuating the air with resounding chants in solidarity with the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other eminent leaders. Shah reciprocated the warmth of the crowd, extending greetings and exchanging waves as he traversed through the throng, drawing an immense gathering.
In the electoral landscape, the principal opposition Congress has forged an alliance with the CPI(M) in Rajasthan, with the CPI(M) nominating former MLA Amraram to contest from the Jat-dominated Sikar constituency.
Notably, Sikar stands as the native turf of Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra, whose stronghold constituency, Laxmangarh, falls within the ambit of the Sikar Lok Sabha constituency. Among the eight assembly segments comprising the Sikar Lok Sabha constituency, the Congress holds sway over five, while the BJP commands three.
The impending Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan are slated to unfold in two phases, commencing on April 19 and 26 respectively. Sikar finds itself among the twelve constituencies slated for the initial phase on April 19, alongside Ganganagar, Bikaner, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Jaipur Rural, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa, and Nagaur.
The subsequent phase on April 26 will witness the electoral fate of the remaining thirteen constituencies, namely Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore, Udaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Kota, and Jhalawar-Baran, unfold.
