In a bold move against the apprehension of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the opposition INDIA bloc plans to convene a grand assembly at Ramlila Maidan in the nation’s capital on March 31, aiming to protect the nation’s interests and uphold democratic principles.

During a media briefing, the AAP and Congress, allies of the INDIA bloc, disclosed their intentions to organize the rally. Gopal Rai, a leader of the AAP, affirmed that prominent figures from the INDIA bloc leadership would grace the occasion.

This declaration follows the recent arrest of Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, taken from his official residence over allegations of money laundering linked to an excise policy. A court subsequently remanded the AAP’s national convener into the custody of the central agency until March 28.

“We shall orchestrate a grand gathering at Ramlila Maidan on March 31 in protest of the ongoing events within the country. Esteemed members of the INDIA bloc shall partake in this event,” stated Rai, the Delhi convener for the AAP.

“Both democracy and the nation face imminent peril. All constituent parties of the INDIA bloc are uniting for this grand assembly to safeguard the nation’s interests and democratic values,” Rai emphasized. Arvinder Singh Lovely, the head of Delhi’s Congress unit, accused the ruling party of denying opposition factions fair treatment, citing the freezing of his party’s financial assets and the arrest of a state leader.

“The ‘maha rally’ slated for March 31 is not merely a political demonstration but a clarion call to defend the nation’s democratic fabric and to protest against the incumbent BJP-led government,” he proclaimed.
