In the twilight of Friday, a military vehicle encountered hostile actions from alleged extremists in the Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir. This incident spurred the security forces into an immediate search operation, as reported by the Press Trust of India. The particulars of the event are presently under investigation, according to a spokesperson from the defense department.

This occurrence unfolds shortly after assailants, suspected to be terrorists, ambushed two military vehicles a few weeks ago, resulting in the tragic demise of four soldiers in Poonch. Sources suggest that the gunfire targeted a procession of security force vehicles in the Krishnagati sector of Poonch. The soldiers retaliated, and as of now, there are no reports of fatalities or injuries.

“At approximately 1800 hours today, a Security Forces convoy of vehicles faced aggression from alleged terrorists situated in a wooded area near Krishna Ghati in the Poonch sector. Our troops remain unharmed. Collaborative search operations conducted by the Indian Army and the Jammu & Kashmir Police are currently underway,” stated the White Knight Corps of the Indian Army.

This assault coincides with the presence of senior military officials, among them Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, who holds the position of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command, in Poonch. Their purpose is to formulate effective strategies to address the recurring terrorist attacks in the region.
