Instructing security agencies to replicate the triumphs achieved in Kashmir valley, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the importance of area domination and eradicating terror plots in Jammu division. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to setting a precedent by employing innovative strategies to crack down on terrorists.

Chairing a high-level review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the national capital today, the Home Minister addressed the recent surge in terror incidents in the region.

Present at the meeting were National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey, Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, as well as Senior Army Officers including Chief of Army Staff (Designate) Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, Director General of CAPFs, Chief Secretary, DGP of J&K, and other senior officers.

Shah urged all security agencies to operate with a mission-oriented approach, ensuring swift and coordinated responses. He highlighted that the battle against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is reaching a critical phase, noting that recent events indicate a shift from organized acts of terrorist violence to a proxy war. He reiterated the government’s determination to eradicate terrorism entirely.

Emphasizing seamless coordination among security agencies, the Home Minister stressed the importance of identifying vulnerable areas and addressing security concerns promptly. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah reiterated a Zero Tolerance Policy against Terrorism, affirming the government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting the positive outcomes of the Government of India’s efforts in the Kashmir Valley, Shah noted a significant reduction in terror-related incidents. He cited the improved law-and-order situation, evident in the record influx of tourists in the Kashmir Valley. Shah commended security agencies and the J&K administration for the successful conduct of Lok Sabha elections, which witnessed a record voter turnout in the region.

Earlier this month, terrorists carried out attacks in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan, with seven security personnel and several others injured. Two suspected Pakistani terrorists were also killed in an encounter with security forces in Kathua district. On June 9, terrorists targeted a bus carrying pilgrims en route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, resulting in casualties. Subsequent attacks on security personnel further underscored the ongoing challenges posed by terrorism in the region.
