Katihar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the Lalu Prasad-led RJD of aligning with the Congress, which had opposed the Mandal Commission’s recommendations for backward communities’ reservations for years. Speaking at an election rally in Bihar’s Katihar in support of JD(U) candidate Dulal Chandra Goswami, Shah asserted that PM Narendra Modi had put an end to nepotism, casteism, and appeasement politics, focusing on the development of all societal segments.
According to Shah, “The Congress party has consistently disrespected the backward classes, even opposing the Mandal Commission report for an extended period. Now, Lalu Prasad’s RJD has allied with the Congress.” He highlighted, “In contrast, PM Modi has honored lakhs of individuals from backward communities.”
Shah cautioned voters, suggesting that choosing the Congress and RJD could potentially lead to communal tensions. “On the other hand, supporting the NDA’s ‘double engine’ government signifies progress,” he emphasized. Katihar, along with Kishanganj, Purnea, Bhagalpur, and Banka Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, is scheduled for polling in the second phase on April 26th.
