In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand experienced a seismic event registering at 3.1 on the Richter Scale, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
At precisely 6:43 am, the tremor occurred, prompting the NCS to announce, “Seismic activity of Magnitude: 3.1, Date: 28/05/2024, Time: 06:43:17 IST, Latitude: 30.15 N, Longitude: 80.28 E, Depth: 5 Km, Epicenter: Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.”
Earlier on April 23, a series of tremors shook the island nation of Taiwan, with the most intense measuring 6.1 on the seismic scale, as confirmed by the U.S. Geological Survey. According to reports from various agencies, no fatalities were recorded from these tremors. However, additional structural damage was reported in two high-rise buildings that had been evacuated in the aftermath of a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the island earlier in the month, claiming 13 lives and causing injuries to over 1,000 individuals. The epicenter of that particular earthquake was situated along the coastal areas of the rural and mountainous Hualien County.
