In Bengaluru, JDS MLA and former minister H D Revanna, apprehended by the SIT regarding the abduction of a woman who was a victim of sexual harassment, has been directed by the magistrate to spend four days in SIT custody. Revanna will remain under SIT supervision until May 8.
The arrest of Revanna occurred on Saturday concerning the kidnapping of the woman, a case filed at KR Nagar police station in Mysuru. SIT officers apprehended Revanna at the residence of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda in Padmanabhanagar, Bengaluru. Following this, Revanna underwent interrogation at the SIT headquarters. He was then presented before 17th ACMM Court Judge Ravindra Kumar B Kattimani in Koramangala on Sunday evening.
SIT officials had sought a five-day remand for Revanna citing the necessity for further questioning. Conversely, Revanna’s legal representative, Murthy D. Naik, opposed SIT custody. Judge Ravindra Kumar B Kattimani of the 17th ACMM Court decreed a four-day SIT custody. Before his court appearance, H D Revanna was transported to Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar, Bengaluru, for a medical examination. Following the assessment, SIT personnel presented him before the magistrate.
In a conversation with the media en route to Bowring Hospital, H D Revanna asserted, “This is a political machination. Unfounded accusations have been laid against me. This marks a significant political intrigue in the annals of the state.”
Asserting his unblemished political career spanning four decades, Revanna remarked, “This is baseless. A complaint was lodged against me on April 28. Subsequently, a kidnapping allegation emerged on May 2 devoid of any substantiation. This represents the apex of political scheming in the state’s political narrative. I possess the fortitude to confront this situation. I refrain from commenting further at present.”
