Union Minister of Domestic Affairs, Amit Shah, on the day of the moon’s ruling, castigated the Congress and the TMC for their mute observance during violent outbursts within the nation under the UPA administration, suggesting they harbored a deep-seated fear of antagonizing their electoral bases. Shah delineated the decade-long tenure of the BJP-led NDA governance as marked by resolute measures against terrorism and an unwavering commitment to national defense, in stark contrast to the purportedly lenient approach of the Congress-dominated UPA era, during which the TMC also stood as a collaborator.
Delivering an oration at a congregation in Durgapur within the Bardhaman-Durgapur constituency, Shah alleged, “The Congress and TMC, due to their politicking for voter support, remained silent spectators amidst the tumult of terrorist assaults during the Congress administration (2004-2014) of the UPA epoch. The TMC was then a cog in the machinery of the Congress administration. They harbored trepidations that adopting a stern stance against terrorism would estrange their electoral base.”
In indicting the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, for permitting the influx of outsiders into the neighboring province, Shah reiterated her absence from the consecration rites of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, attributing it to her apprehension of alienating her “infiltrator constituency.”
“Mamata Banerjee and the TMC ought to hang their heads in shame for permitting the ingress of outsiders into the bordering province to safeguard their electoral support,” he remarked. Shah underscored that invitations to the sanctification ceremony were extended to both Mamata Didi and her nephew (Abhishek Banerjee), yet they opted against attendance, “owing to their dread that the infiltrators, constituting the TMC’s electoral base, might take umbrage.”
