In a recent revelation, BJP luminary Tamilisai Soundararajan disclosed that she received a directive from senior party stalwart Amit Shah, urging her to engage vigorously in both political and constituency affairs. This counsel followed a circulating video capturing her interaction with the Union home minister on social media platforms.

The footage, originating from the swearing-in ceremony of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, depicts Shah engrossed in conversation with Soundararajan, punctuating his points with animated gestures.

Taking to ‘X’ on Thursday evening, Soundararajan, erstwhile Governor of Telangana, recounted her encounter with Shah, which marked their first meeting post the declaration of Lok Sabha election results. Their discussion, she mentioned, revolved around the aftermath of the polls.

“Yesterday, upon meeting our Honorable Home Minister Sri @AmitShah ji in AP for the first time since the 2024 Elections, he inquired about the post-poll scenario and the hurdles encountered.

“As I expounded upon the subject, constrained by time yet displaying earnest concern, he advised me to delve deeply into political and constituency matters, offering reassurance. This statement aims to dispel any unwarranted speculations,” she stated. Soundararajan had contested from the South Chennai Lok Sabha seat but was defeated by DMK’s Tamizhachi Thangapandian.

Her remarks assume significance against the backdrop of rumors swirling around an intra-party discord within the Tamil Nadu BJP unit. Upon her return to Chennai on Wednesday, Soundararajan refrained from commenting on reporters’ inquiries regarding the alleged discord within the party, particularly in relation to her interaction with Shah.

Speculations arose, fueled by her purported remarks on the presence of “criminal elements” in the BJP and the notion that “the party could have secured victory through an alliance with the AIADMK.”
