Varanasi: Elucidating his commentary on “infiltrators” and “those with more children,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi articulated in an interview with a media conglomerate that his discourse encompassed not solely Muslims but extended to every indigent household. He emphasized that any inclination towards Hindu-Muslim polarization would render him unworthy of public esteem.
In dialogue with the media, PM Modi expounded that he eschews the cultivation of favoritism towards Muslims, asserting, “I do not engage in vote bank politics. My ethos revolves around collective progress and development.”
“I am astounded. Who propagated the notion that references to prolific families inevitably pertain to Muslims? Why perpetuate such injustice towards Muslims? This predicament is prevalent in impoverished families regardless of their communal affiliations. I refrained from delineating between Hindus and Muslims. My contention is that one should procreate only to the extent that they can aptly provide for. Let not a scenario arise where the onus of childcare falls upon the state,” articulated the Prime Minister on Tuesday.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the post-Godhra riots in Gujarat during his tenure as Chief Minister, PM Modi lamented that his adversaries besmirched his reputation among Muslims subsequent to the events of 2002.
“This discourse transcends religious lines. Regardless of individual Muslims’ support for Modi, there exists a prevailing narrative dictating their actions. Muslim households encompass my vicinity. Eid was commemorated within our household, alongside other festivities. Our kitchen remained dormant on Eid, as food offerings poured in from neighboring Muslim households. When Muharram commenced, we were educated about the rituals. I was nurtured in that milieu. To this day, many of my acquaintances are Muslims. My image suffered post-2002 (Godhra),” he expounded.
When queried about Muslim voting inclinations in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, he asserted that “the electorate will decide in my favor.” “The moment I espouse Hindu-Muslim dichotomies, I forfeit my right to public representation. I refuse to indulge in religious polarization. This is my solemn vow,” PM Modi declared.
Earlier, at a public rally in Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi alleged that the Congress harbors intentions to expropriate wealth from the populace and redistribute it amongst “those with larger progenies.”
Citing reports of Congress’s purported wealth redistribution agenda, the Prime Minister averred that the party plans to conduct a comprehensive survey and is prepared to go to extreme lengths, even to the extent of dispossessing women of their marital jewelry. PM Modi lodged his nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
Seeking a third consecutive term from the constituency, the Prime Minister aims to secure victory by an unprecedented margin. As the incumbent MP and BJP’s nominee, PM Modi submitted his nomination papers at the district magistrate’s office. Varanasi is slated to go to polls in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
