Upon scrutinizing the recently unveiled manifesto by the Congress for the imminent Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s national spokesperson, Sudhanshu Trivedi, levied criticisms, citing the inclusion of visuals originating from New York and what he dubbed as ‘Rahul Gandhi’s preferred retreat, Thailand’. The Congress had released its electoral agenda for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections earlier last Friday.
Within the Environment segment, an illustration from Rahul Gandhi’s favored haven, Thailand, has been embedded. “Who is responsible for these inclusions within their manifesto?” questioned Trivedi during his media address on Friday, expressing skepticism regarding the provenance of certain images showcased within the Congress’s manifesto.
Notably, an image depicting water management is showcased within the Congress’s manifesto, purportedly portraying the Buffalo River in the State of New York. The term “buffalo” colloquially referred to as bhaains in Hindi, invokes a Hindi proverb pondering, ‘Is wisdom superior or the buffalo?’
“So, it appears that prudence hasn’t been extensively employed in this scenario either. While they’ve yet to uncover the identity behind the tweets emanating from their social media chairperson’s Twitter account, who transmitted this image to them?” queried Trivedi. The Congress’s manifesto was compiled subsequent to nationwide consultations and the reception of myriad suggestions via email and their ‘Awaaz Bharat Ki’ website, as per the party’s assertion.
The election manifesto of the Congress accentuates ‘Paanch Nyay’ or five pillars of justice, comprising ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Naari Nyay’, ‘Kisaan Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’, and ‘Hissedari Nyay’, alongside the commitments made to the populace as part of its electoral pledges for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Moreover, the manifesto delineates the Congress’s commitment to conduct a comprehensive Socio-Economic and Caste Census nationwide to enumerate the various castes and sub-castes along with their socio-economic statuses, coupled with the party’s intention to introduce a constitutional amendment aimed at lifting the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SC, ST, and OBC communities.
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) convened in March and engaged in thorough discussions pertaining to the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The meeting saw the presence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, erstwhile party chiefs Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and other prominent Congress figures.
The forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are scheduled to transpire across seven phases commencing on April 19 and culminating on June 1, with the declaration of results slated for June 4.
