In Nagpur, the endeavor to craft a fabricated abduction video for social media exacted a hefty toll on four adolescent scholars, resulting in their apprehension by law enforcement authorities in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The incident unfolded during the early hours of Monday, as delineated by an official. The quartet comprises two recent participants in the Class 12 examination and two aspirants preparing for the NEET assessment, were implicated for endeavoring to abduct a pupil in Class 11. Following their apprehension, they were subjected to police custody and subsequently released with a cautionary admonition, as disclosed by a representative from the Pratap Nagar police precinct.

The aggrieved party, identified as Aadesh (17), originates from the Chandrapur district and presently resides in rented lodgings in Nagpur, along with a companion, dedicating the past year to preparing for the JEE examination.

Aadesh, currently in the eleventh grade, along with his comrades Yash and Vedant, were traversing towards their educational sessions around 6:45 AM on Monday when a white automobile materialized from behind in the Pratap Nagar vicinity. Three youthful individuals alighted from the vehicle and endeavored to coerce Aadesh into ingress, despite his vehement resistance, according to the official’s account.

However, perturbed by the presence of Aadesh’s companions, the perpetrators promptly absconded from the scene in their vehicular conveyance. Dismayed by the ordeal, Aadesh promptly apprised his educator, who expeditiously escorted him to the local constabulary to file a formal complaint, the official further elaborated.

Subsequent to the lodging of Aadesh’s complaint, the police initiated legal proceedings under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 363 (pertaining to kidnapping), 511 (entailing the endeavor to perpetrate offenses punishable by imprisonment for life or a commensurate term), and 34 (attributing common intent). An investigative effort ensued in response to the complaint.

After scrutinizing the footage captured by surveillance cameras, law enforcement authorities identified one of the culprits as Sushant (18) and took him into custody. Furthermore, acting on the intelligence gleaned from Sushant, the police detained his accomplices, identified as Shreyash, Yash, and Arnav (all aged 18), as indicated by the police official.

During the course of interrogation, the four adolescents revealed to the authorities their motive behind the purported prank – the production of a fabricated video for dissemination across social media platforms. Subsequent to this disclosure, their progenitors were summoned to the precinct, who were aghast upon learning of their wards’ misdeeds. Additionally, it transpired that Sushant lacked the requisite licensing to operate the vehicle, the official remarked.

The parents beseeched the authorities for leniency, with the adolescents pledging to abstain from engaging in such conduct in the future. In light of these assurances, the police opted to release them with a cautionary advisory, the official concluded.
