In the wake of the Supreme Court’s granting of interim relief to Delhi’s Principal Executive, Arvind Kejriwal, the BJP’s Manoj Tiwari, vying for electoral victory in North East Delhi, voiced skepticism regarding Kejriwal’s electioneering prospects, asserting the public’s resistance to a figure perceived as morally compromised.
“The populace is disinclined to heed the appeals of a morally compromised public figure, who, having failed to secure unconditional release, now seeks temporary reprieve. Having solicited votes in 2014, 2019, and now 2024, he lacks the prerogative to occupy the Chief Ministerial seat or access the Secretariat. Engulfed in allegations of graft, having allegedly defrauded the residents of Delhi and embroiled in a controversy concerning the liquor trade, what basis does he have to canvass for votes? With the stigma of corruption overshadowing him, who would deign to lend him their ear?” articulated BJP luminary, Manoj Tiwari, in conversation with ANI.
“I express gratitude to the Supreme Court for extending clemency to him. He can no longer attribute his electoral setbacks to a lack of opportunity for outreach. The forthcoming elections shall unequivocally favor the BJP across all seven constituencies in Delhi,” Tiwari asserted further. The National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Kejriwal, was granted respite on Friday (May 10) by the Supreme Court, pending the adjudication of a money laundering case linked to an alleged malfeasance concerning the excise policy.
In the interim, Kejriwal conducted a procession in Delhi on Saturday evening, accompanied by his counterpart from Punjab, Bhagwant Mann. Delivering a fervent address at a campaign rally in Mehrauli, Delhi, Kejriwal launched a scathing critique of the ruling establishment, prophesying the electoral demise of the BJP in Punjab and Delhi.
Predicting the ascension of an alternative coalition government, dubbed the INDIA bloc, in lieu of the Modi administration on June 4, Kejriwal proclaimed the AAP’s pivotal role therein. Earlier today, Virendra Sachdeva, the President of the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party, castigated Arvind Kejriwal for purportedly fleecing the denizens of Delhi.
Commenting on Kejriwal’s temporary reprieve, Sachdeva remarked, “Arvind Kejriwal secured his release on a bond worth Rs 50,000. Incapacitated from even affixing his signature or accessing the Delhi Secretariat, he has perpetrated an affront on the capital, engaging in wanton pillage. Remanded to temporary liberty, Kejriwal ought to contemplate the impending reckoning after June 1. Were he even remotely burdened by a sense of propriety, he would have tendered his resignation. What manner of Chief Executive is he, unable to even set foot within the precincts of the Delhi Secretariat?”
“Arvind Kejriwal contends that his topmost lieutenants found themselves incarcerated. They are not the epitome of leadership but rather emblematic of corruption, incarcerated and subsequently released on bail… We await with bated breath the reception accorded by the electorate to a figure tainted by allegations. How do those granted temporary respite venture into the public domain? Kejriwal must elucidate to the electorate the circumstances culminating in his 50-day sojourn behind bars. He must account for the electoral terrain contested by the AAP,” Sachdeva articulated further.
The Supreme Court, on Friday, extended interim relief to the Aam Aadmi Party Convenor until June 1. However, stipulating the conditions of his release, the Delhi Chief Minister is precluded from offering any remarks concerning his implication in the Delhi liquor imbroglio. Kejriwal languished in Tihar Jail for over 50 days subsequent to his apprehension by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a matter pertaining to the excise policy on March 21, shortly after the announcement of the general election schedule.
