In the annals of New Delhi, a revelation unfurls: a contingent of seventeen laborers from India, ensnared within the clandestine and perilous folds of employment in Laos, embarks on their odyssey homeward, as unveiled by the dignified pronouncement of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, issued on the day of Saturn.

In a digital testament on the platform known as X, he avowed, “The ensurance of Modi ki Guarantee extends its benevolent aegis to all, whether within the precincts of our homeland or amidst foreign shores. Behold, the forthcoming repatriation of seventeen Indian laborers, ensnared within the labyrinthine throes of treacherous and illicit employment in Laos, resonates as testament to this verity.”

A plaudit resounds, directed towards @IndianEmbLaos, as accolades are bestowed. Gratitude is extended towards the custodians of the Lao realm for their collaboration in orchestrating the secure homeward voyage.

Conversely, the hallowed corridors of the external affairs ministry, in the throes of Thursday’s sun, dispatched a cautionary missive to the Indian diaspora, beseeching vigilance against the snares of modern-day slavers, peddling the allure of pecuniary gain within the confines of Cambodia’s domain.

In a communiqué steeped in admonition, the ministry implored those of Indian descent, harbouring aspirations of labor within the oriental enclaves, to conduct an exhaustive scrutiny of the backgrounds of their prospective patrons. “It has been brought to our attention the plight of Indian nationals, ensnared by the siren call of spurious promises, luring them into the abyss of human trafficking under the guise of opulent vocations in Cambodia,” it enunciated.

Furthermore, the ministry expounded upon the coercive measures inflicted upon these denizens, compelling their involvement in digital malfeasance and sundry unlawful undertakings. “To those hankering for gainful employment within the dominion of Cambodia, we proffer this solemn advisory: liaise solely through authorized intermediaries. Additionally, exercise meticulous due diligence in ascertaining the bona fides of prospective employers domiciled within Cambodia,” it admonished.
