SpiceJet, the budget airline promoted by Ajay Singh, has halted its direct flights from Hyderabad to Ayodhya just two months after their commencement, citing a lack of demand.

Commencing in early April this year, the Gurugram-based airline initiated its thrice-weekly non-stop flights along the Hyderabad-Ayodhya route.

According to a source at the GMR Group-operated Hyderabad International Airport, “SpiceJet ceased its non-stop flights to Ayodhya from Hyderabad starting June 1st.” The airline previously operated these services three times a week from the capital of Telangana.

In a statement, a spokesperson for SpiceJet explained, “Flight schedules are determined primarily by commercial demand.” They added, “However, we continue to operate flights to Chennai from Ayodhya.”

Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30th. Notably, SpiceJet had organized a special flight from the national capital to Ayodhya on January 21st for attendees of the Ram temple’s consecration ceremony.

On January 31st, SpiceJet announced the commencement of flight services to Ayodhya from eight cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Patna, and Darbhanga, starting February 1st.

The inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya took place with Prime Minister Narendra Modi presiding, alongside several dignitaries, including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
