Within the ongoing counterinsurgency effort against Naxalites in Chhattisgarh, a duo of ITBP personnel incurred injuries subsequent to the detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) within Narayanpur district on Friday, as disclosed by an authority.
The detonation, orchestrated by Naxal insurgents, targeted a contingent from the ITBP’s 53rd Battalion engaged in territorial control within the wooded expanses of Kutul and Mohndi under the jurisdiction of Kohkameta police station.
The explosion transpired in proximity to Kutul village circa 3:30 am on Friday, inflicting injuries upon two ITBP members. The wounded individuals, thankfully, are reported to be in stable condition. Bastar IG Sundarraj P affirmed the occurrence, underscoring the underway extensive combing operations to apprehend the Naxal insurgents.
In parallel, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) executed search operations at multiple locations in Chhattisgarh on Thursday in relation to the IED assault perpetrated by the CPI (Maoist) faction against a convoy during the 2023 electoral proceedings.
The deployment of the IED by Naxalites coincides with escalated counter-Naxal operations by the freshly instated administration led by Vishnu Deo Sai, with 120 Naxal insurgents neutralized by security units since the advent of this year. Recent days witnessed the apprehension of nine Naxalites from distinct locales within Bijapur district. While eight Maoist insurgents were detained from disparate zones under the purview of Usoor Police Station, one Maoist was apprehended within the precincts of Naimed Police Station.
