In the realm of political discourse, Rahul Gandhi, a prominent figure in the Congress party, launched a scathing critique against the BJP concerning the grave issue of unemployment in Uttar Pradesh. He posited that the governance marked by a “double engine” approach translates into a “double blow” for the jobless populace.

Expressing his sentiments in Hindi on a platform identified as X, Gandhi asserted that presently, a distressing reality plagues every third young individual in Uttar Pradesh – the affliction of unemployment. He highlighted the incongruity where over 1.5 lakh governmental positions remain unfilled, while individuals holding graduate, postgraduate, and even PhD degrees queue up for roles requiring minimal qualifications.

Gandhi expounded, “The double engine government implies a dual setback for the unemployed!” He elucidated the hurdles faced by aspirants, stating, “Primarily, the emergence of job opportunities is akin to an elusive reverie. Even if recruitment processes are initiated, the integrity of the examinations is compromised. In instances where examinations transpire seamlessly, the outcome remains uncertain. Moreover, upon receiving results after prolonged anticipation, individuals often find themselves compelled to resort to legal recourse for securing their employment.”

Drawing attention to the plight of countless students who, after enduring protracted waits for employment opportunities in various sectors, including the Army, Railways, education, and police, have exceeded the age limit, Gandhi remarked that these individuals find themselves ensnared in a labyrinth of despair, succumbing to depression and breakdowns. He alleged, “When these distressed individuals take to the streets to voice their demands, they are met with police batons.”

Gandhi underscored the profound significance of employment for students, portraying it not merely as a source of income but also as a conduit for realizing dreams that have the power to transform the lives of their families. He lamented, “With the shattering of this dream, the aspirations of the entire family lay in ruins.” Gandhi affirmed that the policies advocated by the Congress party are poised to vindicate the aspirations of the youth, ensuring that their sacrifices do not go unrewarded.

The ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, organized by the Congress, entered Uttar Pradesh on Friday and is slated to traverse the state before proceeding to Rajasthan. This transcontinental journey, spanning 6,700 kilometers across 15 states from Manipur to Mumbai, seeks to espouse the message of ‘nyay’ (justice) while engaging with the common populace along its route.
