Embarking on a two-day visit to India, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis underscored the “particular” significance of the strategic partnership between India and Greece. The exploration of expanding their overall ties, with a dedicated focus on economic engagement, remains a key agenda during this visit—the first by a Greek head of state to India in 15 years.
Expressing his perspective, Mitsotakis conveyed, “The strategic partnership between our two countries holds specific importance for Greece. Our discussions will span a wide array of topics, including strategic partnership nuances and the fostering of economic engagement,” addressing reporters.
The ceremonial welcome for Mitsotakis took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s forecourt before his discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged with the Greek prime minister, expressing delight and highlighting Mitsotakis’ commitment to strengthening India-Greece ties on ‘X’.
Commencing his visit by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, Mitsotakis reflects on the elevation of India-Greece relations to a ‘strategic partnership’ during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Greece in August of the preceding year.
Tonight, Mitsotakis assumes the role of the chief guest and keynote speaker at the Raisina Dialogue in the national capital. Anticipation surrounds the expectation that Prime Minister Mitsotakis’ visit will further fortify and deepen the strategic partnership between India and Greece, as conveyed by the Ministry of External Affairs last week.
