Unpaid traffic fines can lead to severe repercussions, affecting various services linked to the vehicle. Failure to settle fines promptly could result in significant consequences, including stringent actions by traffic police or transport departments. Vehicles with pending fines for non-payment could be categorized as ‘Not to be Transacted’ on the vehicle portal after 90 days from the date of the fine.

Several services associated with the vehicle, such as fitness checks, emission inspections, vehicle transfers, and address changes, will be blocked from the vehicle portal if fines remain unpaid. To reinstate these services, the fines must be cleared.

Authorities have noted a significant increase in pending fines, prompting a stricter approach. This rule isn’t new but was previously a manual process, consuming considerable time. However, it has now been automated, serving as a warning to drivers to adhere to road regulations and settle fines promptly. Failure to comply may lead to various hardships.

Following this decision, over 6,000 vehicles have already been classified under the ‘Not to be Transacted’ category.
