Voting is underway in Uttarakhand across five Lok Sabha constituencies in the initial phase on Friday. Over 8.3 million voters hold the power to shape the destinies of approximately 55 contenders. These constituencies encompass 70 assembly seats within the 13 districts of the state.
Elderly Voter’s Remarkable Participation: In Chamoli district, voter enthusiasm has reached a fever pitch. Voting transpires smoothly at all 584 polling stations across the three assembly constituencies in Chamoli district. Rajeshwari Devi, an 87-year-old senior citizen, made her mark by casting her vote at Alkapuri’s polling booth. With the aid of a walking stick, she independently reached her designated station to participate in the election.
Trivendra Rawat Votes with Family: Former Chief Minister and BJP nominee from Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency, Trivendra Singh Rawat, also exercised his voting rights in Dehradun alongside his family. For the first time in his three-decade-long career, Rawat is vying for a seat in the Lok Sabha. Ganesh Godiyal Participates in Elections: Congress’s Ganesh Godiyal, running for the Pauri Garhwal seat, cast his vote in Paithani, accompanied by his family. Kishore Upadhyay Exercises His Right: BJP MLA from Tehri, Kishore Upadhyay, voted at the Pali-Chadiara polling station in Tehri. He shared a photo and video on his social media page, urging citizens to rally behind the Modi government’s ‘400+ majority’ vision for a robust India by 2047.
Vibrant Participation of Women: An animated spirit prevailed among female voters at polling booths 88 and 89 located at Mata Mangala Inter College within Tehri Lok Sabha constituency. Post-voting, women revealed their focus on critical issues. Unemployment emerged as the foremost concern, with many pointing out the challenges faced by young people in seeking gainful employment. Their votes carried the hope of national development.
Women also voiced their concern about the dire state of roads and called for measures to eliminate unemployment for a prosperous nation. Furthermore, they advocated for accessible education for underprivileged children. Another voter emphasized the need for stringent laws to ensure women’s safety and urged for a governance structure that fosters comprehensive growth.
