In the urban expanse of Bengaluru, Karnataka’s Transport Luminary, Ramalinga Reddy, made a proclamation today, delineating the elongation of the timeline by an additional three months for the incorporation of High Security Registration Number Plates (HSRP) on vehicles.
Responding to an inquiry posed by Madhu G. Made Gowda, a representative of the Congress party, during the question-and-answer session in the Legislative Council, the erudite Transport Minister expounded that the prescribed limit for affixing high-security plates required an extension, citing its divergence from the envisaged trajectory. “The stipulated period for the integration of high-security number plates is set to lapse on the 17th of February 2024. Regrettably, the implementation of the novel number plates has not met the anticipated benchmarks. Consequently, an extension of the deadline for vehicle compliance is imperative,” he articulated.
Reddy expounded further, elucidating, “As of now, a total of 18,32,787 vehicles within the state have been outfitted with the high-security number plates. Alas, a mere 9.16 percent of the total number plates have undergone the prescribed installation. In comparison with other regions, the pace of execution in our state is notably languid. We find ourselves trailing in this regard.”
Originally slated for completion in November 2023, the deadline was initially deferred to February 17, 2024, given the lack of adherence to the planned schedule. However, a second extension has become necessary, given the persistent lack of advancement even during the extended interval.
