The day following the Telangana law enforcement’s submission of a termination dossier regarding the demise of PhD scholar, Rohith Vemula, his kinfolk appealed to Telangana’s Principal Minister, A Revanth Reddy, tendering a petition and pressing the Congress administration in the territory to reopen the inquiry.
Radhika Vemula, the mother of Rohith Vemula, articulated that the Principal Minister has pledged that an impartial examination shall be initiated once more, appending, “this governing body shall furnish us with rectitude.”
Earlier, his sibling Raja Vemula alleged that the regional overseer persisted in adjudicating the family’s SC status, inducing the authorities to articulate their intent to initiate a supplementary probe.
Within its termination dossier pertaining to Rohith Vemula’s demise, the Telangana Law Enforcement asseverated he was not of Dalit lineage and perished by self-inflicted means in 2016, apprehensive that his “authentic caste” might be divulged. Citing the reservations enunciated by Rohith Vemula’s kin, Telangana’s Director General of Police Ravi Gupta relayed in a declaration late on Friday that a plea shall be filed before the pertinent magistrate, entreating leave for further examinations.
Raja Vemula informed news networks that the Telangana High Court proffered the option to present a ‘protest petition’ in the subordinate court. The affirmation whether Rohith Vemula was affiliated with the Scheduled Caste (SC) congregation or not ought to be furnished by the district overseer of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, he asserted, querying how the authorities could assert he was not of SC lineage.
Raja Vemula further articulated their intent to rendezvous with Telangana’s Principal Minister, A Revanth Reddy, concerning the issue. Meanwhile, Police Chief Gupta delineated that the investigating officer in the case held the designation of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madhapur, and the ultimate termination dossier was composed preceding November, grounded on the scrutiny executed.
He stated in the declaration that the conclusive termination dossier was officially tendered before the jurisdictional tribunal on March 21 by the investigating officer. Within the termination dossier, the police also absolved the implicated individuals, citing an absence of substantiation. The university’s then vice-chancellor Appa Rao Podile, erstwhile BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya, BJP ex-MLC N Ramachander Rao, and certain ABVP luminaries were among those implicated.
