New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a forecast on Friday that indicates a pattern of light to moderate showers interspersed with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and brisk winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h across the entirety of the northeast. This encompasses the regions of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from April 19th to 22nd. Additionally, heatwave conditions are anticipated in specific locales across Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana over the coming four days.
The IMD’s latest prognostication suggests a western disturbance may exert influence on North-West India from April 22nd. As a result, it anticipates possible rainfall or snowfall, coupled with lightning and gusty winds, affecting Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh on April 19th, 20th, and 22nd. Rainfall is also forecast in Uttarakhand from April 19th to 24th.
In its morning bulletin, the IMD further foresees the likelihood of precipitation accompanied by robust winds in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi from April 19th to 22nd.
On April 19th, a rain alert has been sounded for Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Relief for Delhi Residents
As Delhi experienced sweltering conditions on Thursday, the IMD projected showers paired with strong winds on Friday, stemming from the effects of a western disturbance.
While scattered drizzles and brisk winds were observed in some parts of Delhi on Wednesday night, the intense sunshine led to discomfort among residents from Thursday morning.
According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in the nation’s capital ascended from 35.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday to 39.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
Heatwave
Per IMD’s assessment, heatwave conditions are poised to endure across different areas in Odisha from April 19th to 21st, Bihar during April 20th to 22nd, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal from April 19th to 23rd. Similarly, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and interior Tamil Nadu are on alert for April 19th.
Severe heatwave conditions are also projected in isolated areas of Odisha on April 19th and Gangetic West Bengal from April 19th to 21st.
Additionally, it forecasts sweltering and muggy weather persisting over Konkan & Goa on April 19th, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Telangana from April 20th to 23rd, and Kerala and Mahe from April 21st to 23rd.
