Amaravati: In an astounding retrieval of a substantial sum of money preceding the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election, authorities have confiscated Rs 7 crore valued cash discovered from a vehicle which capsized in East Godavari district on Saturday, sources disclosed.
As per accounts, the currency concealed in seven crates, was impounded from the vehicle which capsized subsequent to colliding with a lorry at Anantapally in Nallajarla Mandal. Observers noticed that seven cardboard containers, harboring currency, were being transported in that vehicle and notified the authorities.
Reports indicated that the vehicle was en route from Vijayawada towards Visakhapatnam when it capsized resulting in the retrieval of cash. The operator of the overturned vehicle endured injuries and was transported to Gopalapuram Hospital for medical attention, according to the reports.
Alleged footage of the cash seizure depicted officials enumerating the notes in the denominations of Rs 500 stored in carton receptacles.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Police have commenced an inquiry into the origin of the cash. The cash recovery arrives two days subsequent to another cash seizure worth Rs 8 crore from a truck in NTR district of the state on Thursday.
On Friday, the ED Mumbai Zonal Office provisionally affixed immovable assets valued at Rs 52.73 Crore located in Navi Mumbai in the case of M/s Monarch Universal Group under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. In a statement issued in this context, the ED remarked it commenced an investigation based on numerous FIRs registered by Maharashtra Police under various sections of Indian Penal Code, 1860 against M/s Monarch Universal Group, Gopal Amarlal Thakur, Hasmukh Amarlal Thakur, and others for deceiving and defrauding authentic flat purchasers by collecting funds from them for the sale of flats and failing to register the same in their name.
